purple cow

Ok. Wow

so after our game of H&S this eve (which SOMEONE ::nudgism-TIA-nudgism:: giggled like halfway thrue) some of us stayed and we're standing by the a shelf (yeah duh, it's a library, but whatever) and belle was leaning on one, and I said something about she shouldn't lean on it and ugh
me: "and stop leaning on...the - - purple - - cow"
and duh, that was stupid. (But hey! That's what it honestly looked like!)
gosh

it turned out to be just "The Pursuits of Commanders" some biography on generals er something
ANYHU!

So belle has been saying purple cows ALL LUNDIN DAY

you ask ME why I bug her sometimes

night of fun

Righty-O! oooo, I could burst wishing you could join us. Grace and liss and belle and oh just everybody are going to play hide and seek in the stacks this evening! We ought not to play in the library but mistress says it’s alright so, yes.
It really is silly, some of us all grown up I suppose. But we are the Fam! I would never understand how people get along without 20 or so cousins to get along WITH...sighing
whether weather
Kisses!

quiet eve's

It is raining again. It’s ok I guess, but it makes me feel kinda weird coz everyone goes off to either the hall or the boxes and it get’s real quiet up here. Yes I’m in the sitting rume cases you all might wonder. It is peaceful, but you know how it is. Belle has been singing a lot lately and I have this tune stuck in my head. I should probably go listen to some music then eh? Silly me.

Ok, I have the music. It is old 1920’s american stuff. But it’s good for american. I wonder what they are watching down at the boxes... I’ll go see

Opera, oh sweet. Ok gunna go watch. Catchya enIene.

a spot of life / reflect

Hi. Everyone is so busy. So I’ll just write. It is funny actually. Everyone is busy at doing, rather, nothings. They like doing nothings. With all their little nothings to do, I guess they just don’t have time. Hmm. Em says that many people try to fill their life with something, and their life gets consumed by it. She says that a long time ago, Mistress Layna told her about the way her great grandpapa would do things. He would live out little nothings, and together, they made something all on their own: a life. I guess the Mistress has passed that down to her decedents as well. Hmm. I am so glad the family has taken me in. I don’t know what I would do without them. They are all so kind to me. Cedric too. I guess we both are one of a kind eh? Not part of the family, but close enough. The gang calls him uncle cedric. But somehow, he lets me call him grandpapa. I think he likes it. I used to call him that just for fun. But I guess he really is my grandpapa now. Whether weather. He is better now. I ought to have told you. Brooke says that he is a remarkably fast healer for such an age. I wish I could be that cheerful and sprite if I live that long. Supper. Aeamathor,

Business

Hi. itsme. I know. Lots of fun aren’t I. I finished the book. Yes, I read slowly. The time was just stretched out. Lots going on. It was good. I liked it. It feels nice to know the end. But you get lonely without it. The book I mean. Like you lost something. Or part of you. That “I can always go read my book” feeling. But life moves on. It does that. Like fighting, almost. Bruk says at least. He tolled me that if you don’t fight the blows, you get hit. But if you ride them, you win. He is teaching lynn. I like to watch. Thoe I don’t think I ever will try to learn. I will always have some many others who know around me. It makes me glad to know that. Not that they can, or that I could. But that they would. Hmm. Brooke just walked by with Cedric’s tray. I wrote him a note. He likes that. And I like knowing that he does. Sometimes, if I leave a note on his desk, he will leave one in my sunbonnets just to see if I wear them. If it is in the winter thoe, I almost never wear a sunbonnet. And I love waiting for summer to come again and I check to see all the lovely things he writes to me. Cedric has such beautiful handwriting. I wish I could write like that. I guess I just wish things to much, hmm. Em says that wishing is good because it makes one feel uncomfortable. I guess she means that it helps you move towards achieving something. Like hunger. Belle is always hungry. I like food. We eat a lot here I guess. Brooke just came back. She says that Cedric ate all of his food and took his herbs without fuss. I am glad. He can be quite a duzzley old boy about things like that sometimes. He says that we ought to try a thing’s resolve before we trust it. I guess he is right. He is almost always right. But he says things in English that I don’t always understand. Hmm. Liss, Grace and I are going to the stacks this afternoon. Perhaps I should grab a dictionary while I am at it. It is too bad. Dictionaries. They do not give a great deal of context in instances. Unlike plays. Or Opera. Shakespeare helped me with the “wit” thing a whole lot. But I guess people who grow up on English just pick up the intricacies quickly. It is still taking me time. Cedric says I am very good at it thoe. He always likes what I do. brooke and I. I guess we are his “pets” of sort. Everybody loves the old man. Even Wyn. Wyn is hard to tell. But I know he likes c.t. I do know it. Em says that you can always tell by the way someone listens how they will speak. I guess that is true. When Wyn listens to belle, you can see the way he analyzes. Belle is so much fun. But hard. Her speaking I mean. I guess this is too long now hmm. I’ll just stop then.
off my hat as belle would say

small happenings

Hi. Tis miri. Made some apple-splits with brooke darling. They’re okay. Making them was fun thoe. T’would have been better with some Earl Grey. Hmm. I’m reading a book. It is about philosophy. I like it so far, but I haven’t read the whole thing. Cerdic says that if you like a book even halfway thrue, it is as good a whole book even if it had a horrid ending. I don’t know if that is true. Sometimes I read a book and it has a horrid ending, but I just pretend the rest from where it was still good to my own ending. Is it still a good book on whole in all spectre? Perhaps for books. But just books. Life isn’t that way. Em says that because life is temporal, the future is not the only good, the past is not the only good, but the good can only be found in the present. I think she is right. She is always right. Felith says that Em once tolled her that she won’t say anything unless she is sure it is right. It is not, then, odd that Em doesn’t say much. Dear Em. I guess I should try the same thing. I wonder if I could do it thoe. Could you?

Familial Mannerisms

Our Ithabel has made quite a point at that. I am afraid that indeed a lot of the phrases used here are different than the ones I know of when I was in the old Blue. But one thing strikes me as I have been rereading many of our younger folks’ comments, and that is that when you live so closely together with ones own cousins and family and friends, it is remarkable how many mannerisms are utilized in speech that are not only common, but also telling of mood. Forgive my box, but I thought it would be profitable to observe this at least once in public. Top of the eve as always
Be a blessing on your side of heaven...

lingo sticup; positively unstuteable

Right, so i gather you’re not all that in it, eh?
Well i have decided to start making lists of words that don’t exactly cross-over to my fellow brits and you peoples in America
Ausies too come to think,
and Kiwi’s gosh and umm...
South Africa, Canada, that would be a lot of islands too I think,

ANYHOU
here we jabber like nothing’s breakfast so I looked up the web and found that diction in you alls’ countries is lacking in spiff. So off we go for a short one, eh?

int=in the, you know, it isn’t that hard to guess gosh
well at least for the States, of-yester would mean yesterDAY, but you knew that
oh, and woode is spelled woode and we’ll have no more about it.
atol is basically just at all
lundin is more of an expression like bloody or blasted
blamy is too, in essence it is very close to balmy but not, you see
thoe is though (which looks all to much like augh!)

and a whole bunch of stuff slips in from the native tongue they speak here besides English,
but i sure as cats won’t give you a whole language course on my hat.

Moonrise this Morning

We saw a moonrise this morning! We'll, ok, the sun rose too. In fact, we all went out to the veranda to watch them come up. It was fantastic, at least the part that we could see. The clouds were out again (and it is very grey here now). Oh well. If you want pictures, you can find out for yourself when the next eclipse will be and watch it live! Very invigourating I assure you.

a book, thing, that I read

So I read this book about how to think, and it was pretty funny watching him go around in circles trying ever so hard to climb higher while still dragging the reader’s feet thrue it all. I guess you can sympathize with the guy considering the audience. Oh well. If only he had seen just how little off the ground his birds of thought had gone.
Oh yes. I knew that
To make a point, and in case you were wondering, I wouldn’t recommend “How to Read a Book” unless you are like a 3e. or something. It is probably a good listen when translated thoe... better yet a 1e for good measure. hmmm.

oft-noon tea

A good tea is a sonata of silence when the storm clouds crumble.

A good tea is the dancing of the wind upon the tips of the grass.

A good tea is the mist of a woode after rain.

A good tea is a warm sunbeam in the first rising hour.

A good tea is the chorus of fairies catching moontears on the water.

Not my hat, but Bigalow is NOT good tea.

An Introduction

Hallo. This is a place I set up so that I and a few others could share about our life here at the manor. Aside from I guess comments and journalings from the fam, I hope to tell you all a little about what goes on in my life. About thirty of us live here. The five families make of some twenty cousins, and twelve aunts and uncles. I am one of the fortunate individuals to have been unofficially adopted into the fam, though I am technically still employed here. I must warn you, we are not at all normal. We do not attempt to be quaint, or stereotypical in our habits, but a lot of what we do is viewed as rather storybook or silly by other brits. I guess that we are. But being so close as a fam, and not having much to do with the cities or vills here in England, we live quite content to be queer. Also, the family is not European, but islander in decent, only three generations or so. A lot of what goes on here has a part in their heritage. I love the language they brought back with them. I am glad it hasn’t gone away. But some of the younger ones which I take care of haven’t learnt English yet, and it makes me wonder. Even I don’t have as much English as I’d like to. Anyways, my dear fam and friends will be posting here too, and I must go. Aeamathor
